We worked with EC1 Build at 17 Newman Street in Fitzrovia, London, to deliver a modern and secure speed gate entrance solution for a premium multi-tenanted office building operated by WorkPad.
Located in the heart of one of London’s most vibrant business districts, 17 Newman Street combines contemporary workspace design with original architectural features, creating a high-end office environment for multiple tenants. The building provides flexible office suites, collaborative workspaces, breakout areas, and meeting rooms, all designed to deliver a premium user experience within a busy commercial setting.
Given the high standard of the interior fit-out and the multi-use nature of the building, it was essential that the entrance solution complemented the aesthetics of the reception area while delivering reliable and secure office access control.
What Challenge Did 17 Newman Street Face?
Before our involvement, the building required a secure and efficient way to manage access for multiple tenants and daily users without compromising the premium appearance of the reception environment.
As a busy office building with constant daily footfall, the entrance needed to support high throughput while maintaining a clean and professional aesthetic in keeping with the wider design of the workspace.
Traditional access control solutions risked appearing too industrial or visually intrusive within the carefully designed reception area. The client, therefore required a modern speed gate turnstile solution capable of delivering secure and controlled entry while integrating seamlessly into the building’s contemporary interior.
The system also needed to work alongside the building’s wider access control security systems, ensuring smooth and reliable access for authorised users throughout the day.
What Were UK Turnstiles’ Goals for This Project?
Our objective was to deliver a premium office access control system that balanced security, operational efficiency, and high-end aesthetics.
The installation needed to provide secure and controlled access for tenants and visitors while maintaining the open and welcoming feel of the reception environment.
We aimed to install modern speed gates capable of supporting high daily footfall without creating bottlenecks or disrupting movement throughout the building.
It was also important that the system integrated seamlessly with the site’s Salto access control infrastructure, creating a fully connected and reliable access solution for the multi-tenanted office environment.
Project Breakdown
We completed the installation of triple-lane UKT-25 stainless steel speed gates, creating a secure and efficient controlled entrance within the reception area at 17 Newman Street.
The system was fully integrated with Salto access control, ensuring smooth and reliable access management for authorised tenants and users throughout the building.
To support the premium finish of the installation while protecting the existing flooring, the speed gates were installed onto a bespoke anti-slip floorplate specifically designed for the reception layout.
As part of the project, custom lane sizing was incorporated into the installation, creating 600 x 600 x 1000 mm access lanes tailored to the operational requirements and spatial constraints of the site.
The completed installation provides a clean and visually consistent entrance solution that complements the wider architectural design of the building while strengthening overall turnstile access control security systems across the site.
Timeline
The installation was completed over two days between the 16th and 17th of April 2026, with all works delivered efficiently and without disruption to the building’s ongoing operations.
