What Challenge Did Drayton Manor Face?
Before the installation, the school had minimal control over student movement within the campus. Students could freely enter the canteen and other monitored areas without any tracking, presenting a clear security issue. Staff needed an entrance turnstile system that would allow them to monitor and manage access while keeping traffic flowing efficiently during busy periods. The challenge was to design a solution that balanced security requirements with the high volume of students moving through the campus, while still being easy for staff and students to use.
What Were UK Turnstiles’ Goals for This Project?
We aimed to deliver a secure and practical entrance turnstiles and gates system that met the school’s budget, catered to high traffic, and provided accessible options for all students, including those needing DDA-compliant access. The solution needed to integrate seamlessly with the school’s existing Paxton access control software. In addition, the school required the system to be easy for staff to manage, with the ability to manually override the employee entrance turnstile if needed, ensuring both flexibility and safety for the school environment.
Project Breakdown
The project involved the installation of three UKT-10 fully automatic tripod turnstile gate entrance and one UKT-115 fully automatic DDA-compliant swing gate. The swing gate was linked to a manual override control console, giving staff the ability to override the system when necessary. All turnstiles and the swing gate were integrated with Paxton ACU door controllers and proximity readers, allowing the school to manage access efficiently and securely. This installation created a robust and controlled entry system, addressing the school’s security concerns while improving student movement flow.
Timeline
The installation was completed on Monday 10th June 2024. The project was executed efficiently, with minimal disruption to school operations. Staff were able to continue normal duties while the solution was fitted and tested, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system.
