HelloFresh is a leading international food distribution and meal-kit provider, supplying pre-portioned ingredients and recipe boxes to customers across the UK. Their Banbury production facility is a high-footfall, fast-moving environment where staff access and shift flow need to be carefully managed. At a food production site, ensuring safety, security, and the efficient movement of personnel is essential to daily operations.
The Challenge
Before installing the new factory entrance control system, HelloFresh faced ongoing challenges in monitoring staff movement effectively. Employees were able to leave production areas without clocking out, take unrecorded breaks, or move between zones without clear visibility. The existing layout relied on two sets of double doors, offering minimal security and no reliable staff access control.
This created concerns around:
- Workforce time and attendance control, as staff movement could not be accurately tracked
- Site security, with no barrier to prevent unauthorised access or exit
- Operational efficiency, particularly during peak shift, changes with very high footfall
The site also required a wider heavy-duty gate to allow cleaning machinery to pass through safely. The new system needed to integrate seamlessly with HelloFresh’s existing access control system, without disrupting ongoing production.
Our Approach
Following a detailed site consultation, we designed a secure entrance control system suitable for the scale and demands of this busy food production environment.
We installed four UKT-42 twin full-height turnstiles, providing multiple controlled entry and exit lanes capable of supporting high footfall during peak shift periods. These full-height turnstiles were selected for their robust, industrial build quality and effectiveness in preventing tailgating and unauthorised movement.
To support the cleaning team, we installed a UKT-60 heavy-duty extra-wide gate, allowing the sit-on cleaning machine to pass through safely without compromising security. The area was then enclosed with security fencing, creating a defined and secure perimeter around the staff entrance.
We also supplied reader plates, ready for connection to HelloFresh’s access control integration, ensuring the system aligns with their existing workforce-monitoring infrastructure.
The installation took place between Monday, 7th and Friday, 11th July 2025, scheduled carefully to minimise disruption to production operations.
The result
The completed industrial access control solution has significantly enhanced the security at HelloFresh Banbury. With staff access now monitored and controlled, there is clear accountability and improved workforce time and attendance compliance, providing a reassuring sense of safety.
The UKT-42 twin full-height turnstiles and the UKT-60 heavy-duty gate have significantly improved the efficiency at HelloFresh Banbury. They handle large volumes of staff smoothly, ensuring a controlled, organised flow during busy shift change periods, instilling confidence in the system’s reliability.
