Who Are Relay Technologies Limited?
We worked with Relay Technologies Limited at their Uxbridge site to deliver a secure warehouse entrance solution using full height turnstiles and security fencing.
Relay Technologies operates within the logistics sector, sorting, managing and routing parcels through busy operational environments. With employees moving regularly between different areas of the facility, reliable entrance control plays an important role in maintaining security while ensuring day-to-day operations continue to run efficiently.
Having recently completed a similar project for Relay Technologies at their Nottingham site, we were brought in again to plan, design and deliver a solution for their Uxbridge facility.
What Challenge Did Relay Technologies Face?
Before our involvement, there was no controlled entrance into the main production warehouse.
For a busy logistics environment handling a constant flow of parcels and personnel, this created a clear security challenge. Without dedicated turnstile entrance gates, there was no physical system in place to ensure employees entered the production area through a designated controlled access point.
The site needed a solution that could strengthen logistics security without creating unnecessary bottlenecks for employees.
High footfall was therefore an important consideration. Whatever we installed needed to provide robust physical security while allowing authorised personnel to move efficiently into and out of the warehouse throughout the working day
What Were UK Turnstiles’ Goals for This Project?
Our objective was to plan, design and install a complete entrance control solution suited to the operational requirements of the Uxbridge facility.
The system needed to create clearly defined access points into the production warehouse, manage high levels of staff movement and provide a secure physical barrier around the entrance.
It also needed to be ready for Relay Technologies’ team to install their own access control hardware following our work, ensuring the full height turnstiles could become part of the site’s wider access control infrastructure.
Most importantly, we wanted to deliver a solution that strengthened security without negatively affecting the movement of employees during busy periods.
Project Breakdown
Following an assessment of the site and its requirements, we installed two UKT-42 Twin Full Height Turnstiles at the entrance to the main production warehouse.
The twin turnstile configuration provides multiple controlled lanes, helping the system accommodate the level of footfall expected within a busy logistics operation while maintaining secure, single-person entry.
Using security turnstiles in this environment also provides a robust physical barrier between controlled and uncontrolled areas of the facility. Their full-height design helps prevent users from climbing over or bypassing the entrance, making them particularly well suited to warehouse and logistics applications.
However, creating a secure entrance required us to consider the surrounding area as well as the turnstiles themselves.
We therefore installed warehouse security fencing around the entrance to create a clearly defined secure boundary. The fencing directs personnel towards the designated turnstile entry systems, preventing the controlled entrance from being bypassed and creating a complete physical security solution around the warehouse access point.
Together, the UKT-42 units and fencing transformed what had previously been an uncontrolled entrance into a structured and professionally managed access point.
The installation was delivered ready for the site’s team to fit their own access control hardware. This allowed us to provide the physical entrance infrastructure while ensuring compatibility with the client’s wider plans for controlling and monitoring access.
The result is a solution designed around the specific operational requirements of the warehouse rather than simply installing individual pieces of equipment.
Timeline
Despite the scale of the installation, our team completed the work within one full working day.
Careful planning ahead of arriving on site allowed our engineers to install the two twin full-height units and associated fencing efficiently, minimising disruption to the client’s ongoing operations.
For a busy logistics facility, keeping downtime to a minimum was particularly important, allowing the site to benefit from its new entrance infrastructure without a lengthy installation programme.

Results
The completed installation has transformed an uncontrolled warehouse entrance into a secure and structured access point.

Combined with the surrounding security fencing, the installation creates a defined boundary between different areas of the facility and ensures personnel are directed through the designated entrance rather than being able to bypass the system.
Once the site’s access control hardware is installed, the security turnstile gates will enable Relay Technologies to manage authorised access into the production warehouse while maintaining an efficient flow of personnel.
