Who are the London Screen Academy?
The London Screen Academy (LSA) is a sixth-form academy dedicated to preparing students for careers across the Film & TV industries. As part of ongoing improvements to student safety and campus management, LSA required a modern and efficient entrance solution powered by high-performance speed gates.
What Challenge Did the London Screen Academy Face?
LSA previously had no controlled method of tracking student attendance. Students could walk directly onto the site without passing through any monitored entry point, making it difficult for staff to maintain accurate records or manage safeguarding effectively. The academy needed a reliable upgrade that balanced security, efficiency, and accessibility.
What Were UK Turnstiles’ Goals for This Project?
Our objective was to deliver a safe, streamlined, and discreet entrance system capable of supporting high footfall. The solution had to ensure all users badge in and out while maintaining a smooth and unrestricted flow during busy periods. Due to the ongoing refurbishment of the entrance, we also needed a system that avoided drilling into the existing flooring, requiring a bespoke, engineered floorplate to support the new speed gate installation.
Project Breakdown
To meet these requirements, we installed a four-lane UKT-26 speed gate system designed to fit perfectly within the entry space on site. One lane was built wider to ensure full DDA compliance, with manual override control for staff when required. This configuration created a fast, efficient, and secure entry process suitable for an educational environment.
LSA had previously installed Paxton ACU door controllers and P50 readers within the turnstile structure. Our team integrated their existing setup into the new speed gate access control configuration, ensuring the whole system remained consistent, intuitive, and user-friendly.
The final design delivered high reliability and strong performance, combining specialist engineering, custom fabrication, and professional installation from an experienced speed gate installer.
