Who are Bakkavor Salads?
We worked with Bakkavor Salads Tilmanstone in Dover to deliver a robust security fencing and entrance control solution for their food production facility. Bakkavor is a large-scale food manufacturer, operating in a fast-paced environment where staff movement, safety, and site security are critical. The site required a reliable solution that enhanced control without disrupting day-to-day operations or logistics.
What Challenge Did Bakkavor Face?
Before our installation, the site faced ongoing issues with staff exiting the rear of the building without clocking out, creating both operational and cost concerns. There was also a wider security issue, as the smoking area allowed uncontrolled access into the building. Without a defined site security fencing solution or controlled turnstile entrance, the site was vulnerable to unauthorised access and poor attendance management.
What Were UK Turnstiles’ Goals for This Project?
Our goal was to design and install a secure system that could not be bypassed, combining security fences with controlled entrance solutions that integrated seamlessly with the site’s existing access control system. We needed to ensure the solution supported operational flow, allowed logistics to continue uninterrupted, and provided a secure site entrance turnstile that ensured all staff were correctly clocking in and out.
Project Breakdown
We completed the installation of perimeter security fencing, alongside UKT-42 twin full-height turnstiles and a UKT-60 full-height gate. The system was designed to control access from the smoking area and rear of the building, ensuring all staff passed through the controlled entrance turnstiles. We extended the site’s access control by installing Paxton P50 readers and ACU door controllers, creating a fully integrated solution. The wider gate design ensured that site logistics could continue without obstruction, while the metal security fence and turnstile layout prevented unauthorised access or bypassing of the system. All equipment was finished to an exact RAL colour match to align with Bakkavor’s branding.
Timeline
The installation was completed over two days, from Thursday 17th to Friday 18th October 2024. Our team worked efficiently to deliver the security fencing and gates solution with minimal disruption to site operations.

Results
The completed installation has delivered immediate cost and time savings for Bakkavor Salads. Staff are now required to scan out through the controlled entrance turnstiles, ensuring accurate attendance tracking and eliminating unauthorised exits. The combination of high security fence installation and controlled access points has significantly improved overall site security, creating a seamless system that operates without the need for staff management while maintaining safe and secure access across the site.
