We worked with Millennium House in Belfast, on behalf of Beacon Fire & Security, to deliver a modern and secure speed gates solution for the main reception area. Millennium House is a commercial property housing multiple office tenants, and with high footfall throughout the day, the client required a reliable system to manage access efficiently. Our installation provided a professional, user-friendly entry solution that blends seamlessly with the building’s interior while improving security and accessibility for all users.
What Challenge Did Beacon Fire & Security Face?
Before our involvement, Millennium House had no controlled entrance system in place. The client required integration with the existing Dahua facial biometric terminals to monitor entry and exit efficiently, while ensuring that the installation did not alter or damage the flooring. This meant bespoke raised and ramped floorplates had to be designed and fabricated to meet DDA compliance, providing smooth access for all users. Additionally, careful planning was required to manage the logistical challenge of transporting kit, tools, and engineers to Belfast in a cost-effective way, while working around the busy schedule of the building tenants.
What Were UK Turnstiles’ Goals for This Project?
Our goal was to deliver a high-performance speed gate system that provided secure, efficient access for tenants and visitors while maintaining the aesthetics of the building. We aimed to integrate the new speed gate turnstiles seamlessly with the Dahua facial biometric terminals, ensuring accurate access control for each user. The installation needed to be flexible, safe, and accessible, with DDA-compliant lanes and bespoke floorplates, while also allowing for emergency access and future maintenance without disrupting tenants’ day-to-day operations.
Project Breakdown
We installed four UKT-26 speed gate turnstiles across the main reception, with two lanes on each side and one lane in each direction being wider to cater for DDA access. Each unit was fitted with Dahua facial biometric readers, allowing tenants and staff to enter and exit securely while maintaining accurate records of site access. Bespoke floorplates and infill panels were fabricated internally to ensure no drilling or permanent alterations were required to the existing flooring.
Working closely with Beacon Fire & Security engineers, we coordinated the installation around the client’s busy schedule. This collaborative approach ensured that the system integrated fully with fire and access control requirements while maintaining safety and accessibility. The turnstile speed gate system was delivered efficiently, providing a robust and visually consistent setup throughout the reception area.
Timeline
The installation took place from Tuesday 7th – Friday 10th January 2025. Careful planning allowed our team to complete the project within this timeframe, minimising disruption to tenants and ensuring that the speed gate installation was completed to the highest standards.
